ペイシェンス＆プルーデンスは、しのぶと智子・・・か!?

Patience and Prudence１４才と１１才の姉妹デュオ ペイシェンス＆プルーデンスのヒット曲といえば『いちごの片想い』と『ゴナ・ゲット・アロング・ウィズアウト・ユー・ナウ』。
この娘（こ）たちの動く映像がないものかとネットで捜したんですが見つかりませんでした。
図らずもウィスパーボイス系のさきがけとなった、巧まざるその緩いコーラスは、もっと高く評価されてもいいような気がします。
ちなみに、patienceは辛抱、忍耐、
prudenceは賢明さ、用心深さ、慎重、冷静、分別
の意味を持つ名前。
ミュージシャンの父親が付けたにしては、古風な名ですね。

1st Recording Of “Gonna Get Along Without Ya Now”
With its original title of “I’m Gonna Get Along Without You,” this two-minute put-down （with a final verse suggesting domestic homicide） is a far, far cry from the much tamer Milton Kellern lyrical re-write that is most frequently performed from the woman’s point-of-view. Teresa Brewer recorded the first nationally-charted version in 1952 while the 1956 Patience & Prudence recording proved to be the most successful of them all

Though Tessie had the initial mainstream success with this familiar tune, it had first been recorded （with some rather startling lyrical differences） in 1951 by Roy Hogsed and would later become hit material for Patience & Prudence and Skeeter Davis

Only a minor hit for Teresa Brewer several years earlier, the song now climbed to #11 on Billboard as the sisters’ follow-up to “Tonight You Belong To Me.”

本日みなさまにご覧いただくのは、海外サイト『Mashable』にて紹介されていた、超絶キュートな動画『Tonight You Belong to Me (Cover) – Me and my 4 y.o.』です。
パジャマ姿の娘と、その傍らでウクレレを抱くパパ。歌うは、フランク・シナトラの娘、ナンシー・シナトラの名曲『Tonight You Belong to Me（邦題：イチゴの片想い）』～！
と、元気よく歌い出したものの、娘ちゃんの様子がどこか変。パパが弾くウクレレをことあるごとに止めては、熱心に前方を見つめているではありませんか。
実はこのとき、彼らの目の前では花火ショーが繰り広げられていた模様。娘ちゃんはコレが気がかりで仕方がないのに、歌わなくちゃならない。だから彼女は、厳しい表情を浮かべてパパにこう忠告するのです。「私がシーッとしたときは花火があがるってことだからね！（だから静かにして！）」

イチゴが発芽した状態をご覧いただいたことがあるだろうか。少なくとも筆者はこれが初めてであるが、あまりのビジュアルに言葉を失った。いやイチゴだって植物なのだから発芽ぐらいさせてやれよと思いたいのはやまやまなのですが、見た瞬間ごめんなさい。というしかない状態なのである。念のため気分を害す恐れもあるので閲覧には注意いただきたいがこちらがイチゴ発芽状態だ。
