中国当局が都合の悪い情報を遮断するため独自開発した国家規模のネット検閲システム「万里の長城」を整備した北京郵電大学の方浜興学長が１９日、湖北省武漢の武漢大で講演中、男子学生に卵と靴を投げられる騒ぎがあった。靴のみ胸に当たったが、けがはなかった。ネット上では「靴を買いたい」「（投げた学生は）英雄だ」などと絶賛されている。
２０日の香港各紙（電子版）によると、学長は「検閲の父」と呼ばれている。靴を投げたのはネット規制に批判的な学生で、最初に卵を投げたが当たらず、靴を投げ、他の学生らの支援を受けて逃走した。

As pseudonyms were commonly used on such media by artists who were currently under contract to a commercial record label, Richard Himber and vocalist Stuart Allen were identified on the disc label as “Larry Bradford” and “Stan Abbott.”
