五月みどり（さつき・みどり＝芸名）は昭和３１年の五月にデビュー。誕生日は１０月２２日。
今ではダリの絵（Mae West’s Face which may be Used as a Surrealist Apartment）のほうが有名になってしまった米グラマー女優のメイ・ウエストは五月のMayではなく本名Mary（メアリー）の愛称ということでMae。
同じくメイと名乗ったメイ牛山（メイ・うしやま）の本名は牛山マサコでした。
メイで思い出すのは、『旅立てジャック（Hit the Road Jack）』の作者でもある歌手のパーシー・メイフィールド（Percy Mayfield）、
