１１日は九州から東北まで青空が広がって関東地方が全国で最も暑くなり、東京は４日連続の真夏日となった。
１１日に全国で最も暑かったのは群馬・館林で３７．５℃、次いで福島・喜多方の３７．４℃だった。この他、埼玉・熊谷で３７．３℃、東京・練馬で３６．２℃を記録した。東日本と西日本は、１８日頃にかけて猛暑が続く見込みで、熱中症などに注意が必要となっている。

気象庁が関東甲信越の梅雨明け宣言を出した７月９日は、各地で３０度を超える真夏日を記録。神奈川県や栃木県などで、それぞれ３０人近くが熱中症などで病院に搬送された。

「発電所の発電機は１分間に約３千回転のペースでタービンを回していますが、周波数が低下すると回転数が落ちてタービンが振動を起こし、タービンの羽根が吹っ飛ぶなどして発電機が壊れてしまう。ですから、周波数が変わりタービンの回転が“危険速度”になると自動的に止まるようにできています。そして、ひとつの発電機が止まると、その分ほかの発電機で発電しようとよけいな負担がかかる。こうして“連鎖”が起こり、大停電が発生する可能性があるのです」

玄海原子力発電所（佐賀県玄海町）２、３号機の再稼働を巡る九州電力の「やらせメール」問題で、県が８日に主催した県民説明会でも、九電は本社やグループ会社の社員に参加を呼び掛け、少なくとも数人が応募して、実際に参加した社員もいたことが１１日、同社の内部調査でわかった。
６月２６日の説明会で発覚した「やらせメール」に続いて、組織的な働きかけが明らかになった。同社は１２日にも調査結果を経済産業省に報告し、第三者委員会を発足させて幹部らの処分を決める方針。
ただ、説明会直前の６日に「やらせメール」問題が発覚したため、「メール問題の直後に社員が説明会に参加するのはまずいのではないか」という声が社内で上がり、参加を取りやめた社員もいたという。

警察庁は１１日、同庁のホームページ（ＨＰ）が１０日夜から１１日未明にかけて、閲覧不能な状態になったと発表した。
大量のデータを送りつけ、機能をマヒさせるサイバー攻撃「DDos（ディードス）攻撃」を受けた可能性がある。同庁のＨＰは昨年９月にも同様のサイバー攻撃を受けており、同庁は今月７日、発信元の大半は中国だったと発表したばかりだった。同庁は接続記録を分析するとともに、９月の攻撃との関連についても調べている。

The Los Angeles based vocal group recorded the atmospheric, echo drenched,’Chinese Lanterns’ in May 1964 at Nashville’s Columbia’A’ Recording Studio which was then state of the art and had been built just two years prior. Produced and arranged by Bill Justis, the track opens with a dramatic reverberating sound of a gong with Charlene Knight’s dreamy lead vocals riding effortlessly above it all with background vocals by fellow group members in effective gong-like interjections .
Managed by Faye Paris, mother of the Paris Sisters, and led by pianist Norman’Galen’ Harris, only the first Galens single from 1963,’Baby, I Do Love You’ /’Love Bells’ charted. The released version of’Chinese Lanterns’ as well as their final single with the label,’I Love You More Than You Know’ /’Young Dreams’ both unfortunately came and went without a trace.
Miss Knight had a previous solo release on the tiny L.A. Pamala label in 1962 entitled,’If You Pass Me By’. It’s a deliciously intoxicating platter of first class L.A. Girl Pop that now commands a handful of cash for an original vinyl disc.
Today, Charlene Knight Zukov is happily retired and living in southern California.
