桐生操氏によるグリム童話の創作版を、中国の出版社が本家グリム兄弟の童話の日本語版だと勘違いして中国語に翻訳し、発売後に児童書コーナーから回収する騒ぎがあった。

西洋の童話のオリジナルはひどく残酷で暗いという話題があって、ひところブームにもなりました。その火付け役となったのが、桐生さんの『本当は恐ろしいグリム童話』でしたね。後追いの類書もずいぶん出ました。
今回に限っては中国側が間違えたのも無理はないかもしれません。

民話「赤ずきん」は、さまざまなバージョンが世界中で語られている。最新研究では「赤ずきん」と、もう１つの似た物語「狼と七匹の子山羊」がどこで生まれ、どのように進化していったかが定量分析によって追跡された。

「赤ずきん」は、１７世紀にこの話を文章化したシャルル・ペローの創作だという説があります。一方、「赤ずきん」のルーツはもっと古いと考える人もいます。11世紀のベルギーの詩があり、これを書きとめた司祭によると、これは地元の農民の間で語られている物語で、赤い洗礼用のチュニックを来た少女が、ぶらぶら歩いていてオオカミに遭遇する話だというのです。
今回の研究結果は、現在親しまれているバージョンのほとんどが、ペローの著作の流れをくんでいるものの、話自体はペローの創作ではないことを示しています。現代におとぎ話として伝わる物語の初期の祖先は、１１世紀の詩であることが分析によって確認されました。
