会計年度は国によって様々ですが、就学時期となると９月が多いですね。
春夏秋冬を人生に当てはめれば生老病死。
日本は新卒・新人を一から育てるという農耕民族らしい感覚、外国はある程度成熟していることを良しとする狩猟民族的感覚、という絵解きもできそうです。

これもラジオでかかるでしょう。
実は悲しい内容なのに、主観的な部分とそうでない部分の詞のバランスが絶妙で、楽しめる楽曲です。
作曲者林哲司自身による編曲もいかにもあの時代らしいですね。『SEPTEMBER』は１９７９年８月の発売なんですけど、たとえば１９８１年１０月にリリースされた松本伊代『センチメンタル・ジャーニー』（編曲:鷺巣詩郎）のあたりまで、ヒットポップスのテイストはだいたい似たり寄ったりです。
その後、シンセでオケが作られるようになって、音がつまらなくなった。ま、これは私の主観ですが。

これはアメリカで大ヒットしましたが、ジャズ、ポップス、Ｒ＆Ｂのどれとも言い切れない、あいまいな仕上がりだナーと、私は初めて聴いたときに感じましたよ。
メロディは “The Wedding Of The Painted Doll” を連想させます。

『さらばシベリア鉄道』『南風-SOUTH WIND-』など、季節感のある歌が印象に残ってます。

今は布川敏和夫人のつちやかおり（※追記：２０１４年離婚）。アイドルポップスにしてはずいぶんとまた難しいのを歌ってたもんです。さすがはニューミュージックの旗手だった東芝EMIのEXPRESSレーベル、というべきですかね。

『すみれ September Love』カネボウ化粧品『レディ80・パウダーアイシャドウ』のＣＭソング。
このころはＣＭ、ドラマ主題歌、番組エンディングテーマのタイアップがあたかもヒット曲の必須条件のように云われてました。つまり歌さえも電通のイニシアチブで作られていたってことですね。
オリジナルの一風堂が１９８２年、カブキロックスのカバーが１９９０年、SHAZNAのヴァージョンは１９９７年だそうです。IZAMも今ではすっかり恐妻家キャラ。土屋昌巳は日本在住で再来年は還暦です。
