ベティ・ペイジの動画にジョン・リー・フッカーのブルースをかぶせるなんざ、なかなかシャレてますなぁ。
ストッキング・フェチが足フェチ、ガーターベルト・フェチ、ピンヒール・フェチと地続きなのも、なんとなくわかる気がします。

The Story of a Star（1956）Sheer Stockings
Ken Smith, author of “Mental Hygiene: Better Living Through Classroom Films 1945-1970”, notes: The Deering Milliken Research Corporation sponsored this visually striking production to push Agilon, a “new and better stretch yarn for stockings.” A narrator tells us that “people want better, newer, more beautiful things” and that Agilon is superior to standard Nylon, which has “no standard for stretch.” The rhetoric in this film is more or less typical, but its stylish visual look makes it memorable. Lots of leggy models and sparse fifties sets.
しかし、ま、ストッキングといえば、休みの国『悪魔巣取金愚』ではなく、ブロードウェイ・ミュージカル『絹の靴下（Silk Stockings）』でしょう。

映画『絹の靴下』（米1957/07/18公開）サントラより。
１９３９年にグレタ・ガルボ主演でエルンスト・ルビッチが監督した映画『ニノチカ』の舞台翻案版で１９５５年に初演されてます。
ＭＧＭがフレッド・アステアとシド・チャリシーで映画化したとき（１９５７年）、作詞・作曲のコール・ポーターが映画のために新たに書き下ろした『ザ・リッツ・ロール・アンド・ロック』は当時流行のロックンロールでして、しかもアステアがそれを歌い踊ってますから、ちょっと珍しいシーンです。
『絹の靴下』におけるシド・チャリシーの映像は YouTube にありましたが音が差し替えられてるようなので、やはりここはちゃんとＤＶＤを買って見ていただくのがいいでしょう。
折しも昨日から、日本人キャストによるミュージカル『絹の靴下』の公演が始まったそうです。

今日は、ナイロンストッキングの誕生を記念する「ストッキングの日」なのだ！
ナイロン製のストッキングが誕生したのは、１９４０年、アメリカでのことだ。当時もストッキング自体はすでに存在していたが、絹製が独占状態であり、非常に高価なものであったそうだ。
そんななか同年５月１５日、米国企業デュポン社がナイロン製のストッキングを発売！ ナイロン製のものは大量生産でき、かつ絹製より安価であったため、ストッキングが大衆に広まるキッカケになった。そんなナイロン製のストッキングの誕生を記念し、５月１５日が「ストッキングの日」となったのである。

本日５月１５日は「ストッキングの日」！ １９４０年に米国でナイロン製ストッキングが誕生し、ストッキング普及の契機になった記念日である。ファッション界における革命であるのはもちろん、新たなフェティシズムのビッグバンだったと言っても過言ではないだろう。
