厚生労働省によると、昨年の離婚件数は２５万３３５３組で、２分４秒に１組が別れている計算だ。
東京では昨今、「離婚式」が人気を集めているという。離婚式を再出発のための区切りにしたいということらしい。
８月下旬、東京・浅草。２台の人力車に別々に揺られた男女が到着したのは「離婚屋敷」だった。参列者は２０～３０代ぐらいの１５人。正装の人や「御終儀」と大書された祝儀袋を持つ人も。ここで離婚式が始まるのだ。
会場は古い民家のガレージを転用した。冒頭、友人代表の女性（２８）が「正直どう言っていいか悩みましたが、離婚しても友達でいてください」とあいさつ。しんみりムードが漂う中、夫婦は目の前に置かれた結婚指輪を見つめ、一緒にハンマーを握った。式を主催する千葉県浦安市の○○○○さん（３０）が厳かに言う。

派手な衣装を身にまとい、白塗りの滑稽な化粧をした先導役「鈴振り」が「笑え、笑え」とはやし立てながら練り歩く奇祭「丹生祭」が8日、和歌山県日高川町で行われた。県内外から訪れた観光客も一緒に大笑いし、五穀豊穣を祈った。
丹生祭は「笑い祭」とも呼ばれ、集まりに寝坊し、落ち込む神を心配した村人たちが「笑え、笑え」と励ましたという言い伝えに由来する。
丹生神社の境内まで鈴振りがみこしを先導し、「笑え、笑え」と音頭を取ると、稲やサツマイモなどの農作物を入れた大きな升を持ったお供の男性らや見物人から大きな笑い声が上がった。

「笑い講」は、山口県防府市で、鎌倉時代から８００年以上続く神事で会場の小俣八幡宮にはおよそ２０人がはかま姿で集まりました。
ことしは、新型コロナウイルスの感染防止対策として、これまで神社の拝殿で２人１組になって行ってきた笑いの神事を屋外の境内に場所を変えて、参加者全員が一斉に行いました。
参加者たちは、マスクを着けたまま宮司がたたく太鼓の合わせて、例年は大声で笑うところを声を抑えて「ワッハハハ」と３回笑いました。
笑いのうち、最初の笑いは１年の収穫への感謝や喜び、２回目の笑いは来年の豊作への祈り、最後の笑いはことしの苦しみや悲しみを忘れようという意味が込められています。
