クレア・ロスロック（Claire Rothrock）、ミルトン・ヨークス（Milton Yakus）、アラン・ジェフリー（Allan Jeffrey）作『オールド・ケイプ・コッド』はパティ・ペイジによって1957年6～7月にヒットした。
映画『ダイ・ハード2（Die Hard 2: Die Harder）』（米1990/07/04公開）で、空港地下室の管理人マービン（Marvin）がかけていたレコードがこれ。
吹雪の日に避暑地コッド岬の夏のムードに思いをはせるという趣向は、北国ドイツ人のゲーテが南国イタリアに憧れるみたいな？
『夢のカリフォルニア』 『ニューヨークは淋しい町』もそんな感じだったが、それより古い歌なんで、その管理人のトシもおおよそ見当がつくだろうという話だ。
ビーチ・ボーイズ『ディズニー・ガールズ（1957）』にこの歌の名が出てくる。

『ミスティ』は黒人ピアニストエロール・ガーナーの代表作（１９５４年）。
初めてヒットしたのはミッチ・ミラー楽団との共演バージョン（１９５７年）だった。
ロバート・マックスウェル『ひき潮』と同じように後から詞が付けられ、５９年のジョニー・マティス盤を筆頭に、今も多くの歌手に歌われている。
ストーカーの恐ろしさを描いたクリント・イーストウッド監督第一作『恐怖のメロディ』（１９７１年）でも、この曲が使われている。

Released in late summer of’54, here is the classic first recording of Garner’s “Misty.” He would re-record it for Columbia In 1957 with orchestral backing. And in 1959, vocal versions by Johnny Mathis and （to a lesser extent） Sarah Vaughan would help establish “Misty” as a standard for all times.

Though overshadowed by both the single’s popular A-side “Broken Hearted Melody” and the famous Johnny Mathis version of “Misty” which charted a couple of months later, this lovely track is among Sarah’s best-remembered sides and received a fair amount of M.O.R. （middle-of-the-road） radio play at the time.
