This stunning’Wall of Sound’ production is the third of four Decca Records singles issued in the United Kingdom by Barry St. John between July 1964 and May 1965. Composed by Chris Andrews, the tune was recorded in April 1965 at London’s Olympic Sound Studios with Mike Leander both producing and arranging at the session. Tapping into the Phil Spector sound, Barry’s lead vocal with the background voices of the Breakaways riding above the atmospheric music track, the result was quite impressive to say the least.
Born in Scotland, Miss St John would record over several labels before primarily earning a lucrative living as a session singer. She passed away in London in 2020 at the age of 76.
