伊達市内の皆遵寺副住職狐野（この）利文さん（３４）が仏の教えをフォークソングに込めて歌う活動を続けている。「ＫＯＮＯ」の芸名で、道内の仏教系大学や学校などを訪ね、「法話」と銘打ったコンサートを開催。活動開始から１０年で、持ち歌は１００曲を超えた。今年６月には初のＣＤアルバムを発売する。

歌う尼さんなら「ドミニク」（1963年秋）のヒットで知られるザ・シンギング・ナンことスール・スーリール（Soeur Sourire＝シスター・スマイルの意）、出家名シスター・リック（＝ルー）・ガブリエル、俗名ジャニン・デッカーズ嬢が世界的に有名ですね。
デビー・レイノルズ（映画化で主演）や、日本ではペギー葉山らがカバーしたことからもそのポップ度がわかります。ルー嬢はその後還俗し歌手活動を続けましたが行き詰まり、１９８３年３月、自ら命を絶っております。合掌、いえアーメン。
日本でも音楽活動をする坊さんたちが過去にもおりましたが、お経や教え、信仰、またその周辺の事どもを歌にするのは、何もその筋の人ばかりではありません。
古くはエノケン法界坊の「ナムアミダブツ」（「ルイーズ（LOUISE）」の替え歌。「ルイーズ」はモーリス・シュバリエの持ち歌で、ビング・クロスビー盤でもヒットした）、塩まさる「九段の母」、鈴木三重子「むすめ巡礼」、藤島桓夫（たけお）「月の法善寺横丁」、和田弘とマヒナ・スターズ「お百度こいさん」、美空ひばり「ひばりの観音経」「裸念仏ぁ岩の上」、神楽坂はん子「善光寺詣り」、渥美清「チンガラホケキョーの唄」、若山富三郎「なむあみだぶつ」、アダムス「旧約聖書」、友川かずき「南無妙法蓮華経」、ライトハウス「南無妙法蓮華経」、三浦久「私は風の声を聞いた」、中山ラビ「念仏ぐらし」、スリー・ステップス・トゥ・ヘブン（つボイノリオ）「本願寺ぶるーす」あたりはわりと知られております。ちなみに当初、美空ひばりを想定して作られたという一節太郎の大ヒット「浪曲子守唄」の“浪曲”とは、俗謡「かっぽれ」、三門博の浪曲「唄入観音経」の一場面、東海林太郎の流行歌「赤城の子守唄」等を踏まえた「名文句」と「節回し」とを指したものですね。
そもそも浪花節は宗教芸能が原点ですし、あほだら経を織り込んだ書生節やコミックソングもいろいろあります。
あーそうそう、「帰ってきたヨッパライ」のラストにはお経が出てきますね。あれはデタラメなお経でしょうか？

Known best for his work as a radio orchestra conductor, he did appear as himself in the 1938 movie musicals “Hollywood Hotel” and “Hawaii Calls.”
