今日３月１０日は東京大空襲があった日。
１９４５（昭和２０）年３月１０日深夜０時８分、米爆撃機の大編隊により無差別の焼夷弾爆撃が行われ、約１０万人が死亡、約２７万戸の家屋が消失しました。死んだ人間のほとんどは非戦闘員でした。
大日本帝国陸海軍を統帥していた大元帥陛下もこの空襲の惨状を親しく見そなわされたといいます。
たとえ名目的であったにせよトップにいた者が、その時それこそ一命を賭して戦争を終らせていたなら、内外の多くの者が死なずに済み、日本と世界の戦後もまた違ったものになっていたでしょう。
あるいは日本の国体カルトが温存されて、今にちまで悪夢が続いていた可能性もある。
歴史に「イフ」はないとは言い状、指導者・支配者・責任者がバラバラの国家が及ぼす「大迷惑」はもう二度とあってはなりません。
そしてまた日本人は被害ばかりをことさら強調し記憶するのではなく、なぜ、ふだんは温厚篤実・謹厳実直だった普通の日本人があれほど他民族に対し傲慢・残虐になれたのか、
膨大な「死」を無駄にしないためにも、よくよく考えてみる必要があります。

中国に日本式は根づかないし、最新技術も使いこなせないし、さらにそれを発展させることも難しい。
英語のことわざに Every dog has his day（誰にでも得意な時代はある）というのがあります。
日本は戦後の高度経済成長時代。
中国にも当然そういうことがいえるでしょうし、永遠に繁栄し続けるのではないかと思われたアメリカも、ついにこのことわざが当てはまりそうな雲行きになってきました。
