東京電力福島第１原発の事故を巡り、国際原子力機関（ＩＡＥＡ）から、同機関が定めた避難基準を超える放射線量を測定したと指摘された福島県飯舘村。避難住民も戻り始め、日常生活を取り戻しつつあったところだったため、村内では波紋が広がった。菅野典雄村長（６４）は「国から対処方針を変えなくていいと説明を受けている」と話し、住民に冷静な対応を呼び掛けた。
同村は人口約６０００人で、現在村に残る人は約４０００人。自主避難が相次いだため、一時は約３０００人まで落ち込んだが、最近は村に戻る人が増え始めている。

国際原子力機関（ＩＡＥＡ）は３月３１日、福島第１原発の北西約４０キロにある避難区域外の福島県飯館村の土壌からＩＡＥＡの避難基準を上回る値が検出されたとした放射性物質はヨウ素１３１で、測定値は１平方メートル当たり約２０００万ベクレルだったと修正した。
ＩＡＥＡ当局者は３０日の記者会見で、約２００万ベクレルとしていた。数字を取り違えたとみられる。

東京ドーム６個分の広さがある東芝の深谷事業所は、国内初のカラーテレビ専門工場で、昭和４０年の操業開始以来、ブラウン管から液晶テレビに至るまでテレビ生産の一大拠点となっていました。
最盛期には７０００人ほどが働いていましたが、現在は閉鎖の作業にあたる数人だけで、３０日は午後に最後の「終礼」が行われ、責任者が「明日からの新しい職場でも、深谷事業所で培った経験を生かし誇りを持って働いてほしい」とあいさつしました。
そして、午後４時半ごろに正門にある表札が取り外され、半世紀余りの歴史に幕を下ろしました。
テレビを開発・生産していた日本の電機メーカーは、液晶テレビの時代に入ると次第に韓国メーカーなどとの競争が激しくなり、シェアを奪われるのに伴って国内の拠点を縮小しました。
かつて東洋一の規模とも言われたこの工場も、９年前にテレビの生産から撤退し、最近では航空機に使われるブラウン管などの生産に絞って操業していました。

クルト・ワイル（音楽）とアラン・ジェイ・ラーナー（脚本・作詞）が手がけたミュージカル『ラブ・ライフ』（1948/10/07 ブロードウェイ初演）のナンバー。
157年間、歳を取らずに生存した夫婦がそれ故に直面する困難に翻弄されるという、SF的な話。
クルト・ワイル／クルト・ヴァイル（1900/03/02 – 1950/04/03）はドイツ出身の作曲家で、アメリカで活躍。
ロッテ・レーニャとは2度結婚している。
“green-up time” は若葉萌え出づるころということで、新緑の候なら日本では5月だが、この歌では4月となっている。
山口いづみ『緑の季節』、天地真理『若葉のささやき』、ビー・ジーズ『若葉のころ』などの題名が連想されるところだ。
「グリーンアップタイム」は、バカリズムの脚本によるドラマ『ブラッシュアップライフ』の副題の一つだそうで、当人がこの楽曲を知っていて使った可能性もあるだろう。
