カリフォルニア州にある「ヨセミテ国立公園」の近くで２２日午後、山火事が発生し、州当局によりますと、翌２３日までにおよそ４８平方キロメートルが焼失しました。

現地では住宅が焼ける被害も出ていて、カリフォルニア州のニューサム知事は２３日、周辺の地域に非常事態を宣言して住民に避難命令を出しました。
ＡＰ通信などによりますと、避難するよう求められた住民は６０００人以上に上るということです。
「ヨセミテ国立公園」には樹齢が２０００年を超えることもあるとされる絶滅危惧種の大木、「ジャイアント・セコイア」が自生しています。
