都心でもいま時分は、町内会の人たちの「火の用心」の掛け声と析（き＝拍子木）を打つ音が冴えた空気に響きわたっております。
まだまだ古くからの住人が残ってるんですね。
寒いなかほんとにご苦労なことで頭が下ります。
愛知県犬山市の日本モンキーセンターで、たき火で暖をとるサルの公開が始まった。冬至のころから毎年行っている冬の風物詩。

たき火は１９５９年、伊勢湾台風の倒木を燃やしたところ、サルが集まったのが始まりといい、今年で５０年。１５２頭のヤクニホンザルが飼育されている「モンキーバレイ」で職員がたき火を始めると、１頭、２頭と集まり、おなかを突き出したり、手をかざして暖をとる。たき火の中で焼いたイモが与えられると、おいしそうに食べる姿がほほえましい。

証拠隠滅で戦犯追及を逃れようとの意図だったのでしょう。
しかしこのことが、のちに外国から水増しして或いは針小棒大に被害を言い立てられた際、反証できない原因となってしまった。
自分たちの行動に信念を持っていたなら、堂々とそのことを主張できたはずなのに、わざわざ証拠を焼いてしまうなんて、やはり絶対知られちゃまずいことが多々あったのでしょう。

ちなみにテレビの時代劇などでは、冬の夜、腰に提灯をぶら下げた老人が「火の用心、さっしゃりませえ」と叫びながら、拍子木を打って回るシーンが時々登場する。保立道久の『中世の女の一生』（洋泉社）によれば、拍子木を鳴らしながらの夜回りがスタートしたのは平安時代のことで、その背景には火事や犯罪に対する警告とともに、「今、そこで姦通している男女」への警告の意味も込められていたという。
