　仙台市中心部で、市民グループがビルの屋上を利用して飼っていたミツバチ約３万匹が突然、姿を消した。真夏日が続いた上に、ヒートアイランド現象も加わった都心の「酷暑」で、ミツバチが逃げ出したとみられる。

今日も暑かったですね。昼間、２回水浴びしました。

ロシアの作曲家リムスキー・コルサコフの『熊蜂の飛行』（くまばちのひこう／Полет шмеля／Flight of the Bumblebee）は、昔は楽団のオーディション曲に使われたりしてました。
ポップスでは『バンブル・ブギー』として、フレディ・マーチン楽団やＢ・バンブル＆スティンガーズがヒットさせています。

One of five top-10 Martin singles in 1946, this famous treatment of “Flight Of The Bumble Bee” was the final instrumental hit to feature pianist Jack Fina, who left the Freddy Martin band for a solo career and was replaced by Barclay Allen.

Jan Davis – The Flight Of The Bee（1966/09）

A fixture within the Los Angeles music scene from the late 1950’s through the 1970’s, guitarist/vocalist, Jan Davis is commonly remembered for his work as a member of the group, B. Bumble & The Stingers. Although he issued quite a few recordings under his own name during his long musical career, it was one impressive production first release in the summer of 1967 on the tiny Big Bird label before it was picked up by Tower Records that would become a collectible Northern Soul anthem. Along with Buzz Clifford, the duo recorded one of the most amazing, Spectorian Righteous Brothers sounding creations entitled,’Hang On’ and credited aptly as’The Wall Of Sound’. So desired were copies of the original single years later that bootleg specimens of both record labels were manufactured.’Hang On’ and many other Jan Davis sessions were recorded at Hollywood’s Gold Star Studios and no exception is this one shot single that was released on the mighty Chattahooche Records label in September 1966.’The Flight Of The Bee’ was the theme to the then popular TV program, The Green Hornet. A big, orchestrated track with L.A.’s’Wrecking Crew’ fortifying Jan’s wild guitar playing, it’s interesting that considering it is such an’everything but the kitchen sink’ production that female background vocals weren’t thrown into the mix for good measure.
Jan Davis, whose birth name is John Bird, was working and active until his unexpected death on May 2, 2014.

ハチが巣から消えうせ、巣自体が機能しなくなる「蜂群崩壊症候群」（CCD）は原因も分からず、まるでミステリーだ。

　米国でCCDが頻発していることが伝えられたのは2006年から。以後、2010年までに20～40％のミツバチの群れが被害を受けた。

働きバチが大量に消えうせてしまう。死がいも見当たらない。巣に残されるのは、巣の中の「仕事」を一切やらない女王バチや幼虫たち。やがてこれらは息絶えて、群れは全滅してしまう。

健全なハチの群れと、CCDが発生し死滅した群れを数千にわたって調べたところ、CCDに襲われたすべての群れで、ある種のウイルスとカビの両方が見つかったという。いずれも低温で湿度の高い場合に急増し、ハチが栄養をとる邪魔をする。どちらか一つだけではハチを死滅させるには至らない。二つが何らかの形で次々とハチに襲いかかり、巣を崩壊に追い込んでいるという説だ。

　１８日午後２時１５分ごろ、福岡県岡垣町黒山の三里松原海岸近くの松林で、同町立岡垣東中の生徒らがスズメバチに次々と刺された。県警折尾署によると、１～３年生の男女５２人と引率教諭３人、現場に駆けつけた同町立山田小の教頭と同署員の計５７人が病院で点滴などの手当てを受け、うち８人が入院した。命に別条はないという。
　岡垣町教委生涯学習課によると、この日は町内の小中学校全７校が、町教委などの主催による一斉清掃に参加し、児童・生徒約２１００人が三里松原海岸でゴミ拾いを実施。岡垣東中は生徒約３４０人が午後１時から５０分間清掃した。同２時１０分ごろに作業を終え、学校まで徒歩で帰る途中でハチに襲われたとみられる。

今から3年前、2012年のことになる。YouTubeに世界最速のギタリストの演奏が公開された。そのギタリストは速弾きの定番曲『熊蜂の飛行』をなんと999BPMで演奏を行ったのである！　これ以上速くなりようがないだろ!!
と思われたのだが、最近になってインドの若手ギタリストが1600BPMという途方もない演奏を披露した！　凄すぎるだろ。もはや速弾きという領域を超えている。
しかしその演奏動画を見てみると……。友達と思われる人物が、終始暇そうにしているのが気になって気になって仕方がない。おい、もっと真面目に応援しろよ！

そして開発されたのが『モト・リペレント（MotoRepellent）』という名の小さな装置。この装置の中に、無毒な蚊の殺虫剤オイルを入れ、バイクのマフラーに磁石で取り付ける。そのままバイクで走れば、排気熱で殺虫剤オイルが放出され、走った所の蚊が駆除されていくという訳だ。効き目がある範囲は、バイクから半径約3メートルまでだという。
装置を開発したのは、世界的な広告会社 BBDOバンコクと、タイのスラム街の生活を改善するために活動を行う NGO団体ドゥアン・プラティープ財団。
動画の中でスラム街の地域調整官を務めるダムロン・ブンヨンさんは、「他の毒性の殺虫剤を使わなくて済み、かつ町中のあらゆる所に届きます。どんな人でも、地域をより安全で健康な場所にすることが出来るのです」と語っている。また住人たちも「本当に効くんだ」「地域の蚊が少なくなった」と口々に話しているのだった。

インドネシア・北マルク諸島で再確認された巨大バチ「Megachile pluto」。大きさはセイヨウミツバチの約４倍。

人の親指ほどの大きさの世界最大のハチが、インドネシアの遠隔地で約40年ぶりに目撃された。研究チームが２１日、発表した。
　米自然保護団体「グローバル・ワイルドライフ・コンサベーション」によると、19世紀に英国の博物学者アルフレッド・ラッセル・ウォレスによって発見され、「空飛ぶブルドッグ」の異名を持つ「ウォレスの巨大バチ（学名：Megachile pluto）」は、人目に付きやすい大きさにもかかわらず、１９８１年以来、野生では一度も確認されていなかった。
