Film fans certainly had a great time at the Sunday Pictorial Film Garden Party at Morden Hall Park. Stars attending included Bette Davis and her husband Gary Merrill.

山梨県韮崎市の市立小学校で、４０歳代男性教諭が５年生の道徳の授業中、児童に身代金を要求する「脅迫文」を作らせていたことがわかった。
市教委によると、教諭は５年生の担任で、児童３０人に２７日、教諭が用意した新聞から活字を切り抜いて「脅迫文」を５～６人の班ごとに作るよう指示していた。
教諭は自分の身柄を「悪の組織が確保した」ことにして、黒板に「返してほしければ７時、ちびっ子広場に８千円もってこい」「クラスの中で１番大きな男子に持たせること。１秒でも遅れると命はないものと思え」と文面を示していた。
