チャック・ベリー、リトル・リチャードらとともにロックの開拓者として知られ、「ザ・ローリング・ストーンズ」ら多くのミュージシャンに影響を与えたボ・ディドリーが２日（月）、心不全のため死去した。79歳だった。

黒ぶちメガネと長方形のボディのエレキギター、そして何よりもあの独特のサウンドがトレードマークの、きわめて個性的なアーチストでした。
７０年代中期、ブラックミュージックを聴きまくってたころ、この人の影響力の大きさを知りました。
たとえばあの独特のリズムを流用した曲だけでも数十曲におよび、事実、それらを集めたアルバムが発売され、私も買っております。
個人的には勝手にマンガのキャラを歌ってる「ロードランナー」が一番気に入ってます。

オバマ家の犬決まる、名前は「ボー」
１２日付の米紙ワシントン・ポストなどによると、犬は生後６カ月の雄のポルトガル・ウオーター・ドッグ。胸は白く、頭や胴体の部分が黒い。民主党のエドワード・ケネディ上院議員（７７）が贈ったという。名前は「ボー（Ｂｏ）」に。大統領夫人ミシェルさん（４５）の父親のあだ名が「ディドリー」だったため、ロックンロールの生みの親の１人とされるミュージシャン、ボー・ディドリーにちなんで名付けられた。
