New Jersey City Claims It’s the Birthplace of Rock ‘N’ Roll
Cleveland, Memphis, Hattiesburg and Galveston now have another opponent over rock ‘n’ roll birthplace bragging rights. City officials in Gloucester City, New Jersey are now claiming that the genre was born in there little town. Their justification? Bill Haley had a running gig at the city’s famed Twin Bar back in the early ’50s.

「ロックンロール誕生の地」であることを観光の目玉にしたい――
そうなればたしかに世界中からお客さんは来るでしょうね。
白人のウエスタンスイング／ヒルビリーブギと、黒人のスインギーなＲ＆Ｂをミックスさせたブギ・マン、ビル・ヘイリー（ミシガン州ハイランドパーク出身）が、
コメッツ以前にもいくつかバンドを組んでいて、田舎町でライブ活動をしていたことから、今さらながらそういう話が出てくるようです。
ただ、晩年の隠遁と孤独死を思うと、ピンカール・ヘアのイコンを刷り込んだＴシャツやマグカップを売るよりは、そっとしといたほうがいいじゃないですかね。

Attracting renewed attention as opening theme for the new weekly 1974 television series “Happy Days,” this iconic anthem was successfully reissued by MCA. However, it was not the famous’50s version heard here, but a new 1973 Bill Haley remake of the song which was actually featured on the show. “Rock Around Clock” remained the program’s theme for only its first two seasons, after which it was replaced by the Pratt & McClain recording of “Happy Days,” which became a Top 10 hit in 1976

ビル・ヘイリー、アラン・フリード、リトル・リチャード、カテリーナ・ヴァレンテらに扮した人たち（Bill Haley Orchestra）が登場するロックンロール・レビュー『Rock Around The Clock – The Bill Haley Story』。
みんなで１９５５、５６年を疑似体験しようというネライのようで、おそらくはザ・ブライアン・セッツァー・オーケストラの成功に影響されたものと思われます。

私の持ってるレコード（ＬＰ）でいちばん枚数が多いアーチストはビル・ヘイリーでして、中学生のときに近所の床屋でピンカール・ヘアにしてもらったことがありました（笑）
そんなコアなビル・ヘイリー・ファンとしましては、淡々と描くような一代記を映画で作ってもらいたいと、かねがねそう思っております。
