熱帯暴風雨「ケイ」が低気圧に変わり、激しい雨とともに米西部カリフォルニア州を通過した影響で、同州南部の道路で土砂崩れが発生し、２０台以上の車が立ち往生した。
ロサンゼルス郡の消防当局によると、ロサンゼルス市街から北へ１００キロあまり離れた丘陵地帯で１１日夜、土砂崩れが起き、道路が完全に遮断された。午後８時前に救助隊が出動した。
国立気象局（ＮＷＳ）の報告によると、現場では計２４台の車が立ち往生した。乗っていた５３人は無事が確認された。

その時、現場に駆けつけた3人の警察官が、濁流の中で子供を肩に担ぎ上げ、安全な場所に移動しました。足を滑らせ、転んだ人を助けるため、2人がかりで洋服をつかんで、引き上げました。そして無事、全員を救出することができました。

カリフォルニア州の南部一帯で11日日曜日、激しい雨が降り、各地で大きな被害が出ました。道路が浸水し、立ち往生した乗用車の屋根の上で2人が救助を待ちました。（ペリス／リバーサイド郡）
