Hurricane Patricia, one of the most powerful storms on record, struck Mexico’s Pacific coast on Friday with destructive winds that tore down trees, moved cars and forced thousands of people to flee homes and beachfront resorts.
With winds of 160 miles per hour （266 km per hour）, the Category 5 hurricane had western Mexico on high alert, with the popular resort of Puerto Vallarta and others on the coast opening emergency shelters as hotels were closed.
Driving rains sparked flash flooding and tourists piled into makeshift dormitories to avoid Patricia, compared by the World Meteorological Organization （WMO） to Typhoon Haiyan, which killed thousands of people in the Philippines in 2013.

（CNN）Hurricane Patricia — the strongest hurricane ever recorded — made landfall on Mexico’s Pacific coast Friday evening, its 165 mph winds barreling into southwestern Mexico near Cuixmala, officials said.
The monster storm touched down about 6:15 p.m., hours after weakening slightly with sustained winds decreasing to 190 mph and gusts to 235 mph, according to the U.S National Weather Service.
Even then, Patricia lashed the coast with fierce winds and rain as residents and tourists in resorts such as Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo sought shelter.
Patricia landed about 55 miles west-northwest of Manzanillo, home to the largest container port on Mexico’s Pacific seaboard.

　パトリシアは現地時間２２日夜、ハリケーンの強さを示す「シンプソン・スケール（Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale）」で最高のカテゴリー５に勢力を拡大し、沿岸地域に猛烈な雨を降らせていた。米国立ハリケーンセンター（NHC）によると、上陸前の最大風速は９０メートル。

米国立気象局によると、観測史上最強級のハリケーン「パトリシア」が現地時間２３日午後６時１５分にメキシコ太平洋岸に上陸した。風速約７４メートルでメキシコ南西部の沿岸地域を進んでいる。
パトリシアは沿岸部のリゾート地プエルトバジャルタの南約２１０キロの小さな漁村に上陸。その規模は最強のカテゴリー５で、秒速９０メートルの風と激しい雨が村を襲った。村では被害が出ている可能性がある。
メキシコ国家水委員会（CONAGUA）によると、パトリシアの目は直径１０キロ。上陸の数時間前には最大風速８５メートル、最大瞬間風速１０５メートルに勢力を弱めていた。

CONAGUAのロベルト・ラミレス委員長は、ハリケーンは同国を縦断するシエラマドレ山脈を越えてメキシコ湾に到達し、米国に向かう可能性もあると述べた。

メキシコとアメリカの気象当局によりますと、ハリケーン「パトリシア」は日本時間の２４日午前８時すぎ、メキシコ西部のハリスコ州に上陸し、北上を続けています。
パトリシアは一時、ハリケーンの強さを示す５つの段階のうち、最も強い「カテゴリー５」に発達し、メキシコ政府は「西海岸に上陸するハリケーンとしては観測史上最大だ」としていましたが、上陸後は急速に勢力を弱め、もっとも低い「カテゴリー１」に変わりました。
日本時間の午後６時現在、中心の気圧は９８６ヘクトパスカル、最大風速はおよそ３３メートルで、メキシコの太平洋沿岸の地域では風と雨が強まり、浸水や土砂崩れが起きたという通報が地元当局に入っているということですが、これまでにけが人が発生したという情報は伝えられていません。

上陸した途端 カテゴリー５から１へ急激に弱まって、ただの熱帯低気圧になちゃったらしい。
